Thierry Desclos
Senior Urban Transport Specialist, World Bank

Speaker Profile

Thierry Desclos joined the World Bank as a senior urban transport specialist in December 2011. Since then he has worked on urban transport projects and technical assistance schemes in North Africa, the Middle East and South America. He is also in charge of monitoring and delivering a training scheme on urban transport, the Leaders in Urban Transport Training Program (LUTP), the World Bank developed with the support of Harvard University. 

He previously worked for most of his career at the French Ministry of Transport, Urban Planning, Sustainable Development, and Housing where he was Head of the Urban Transport and Railway Division and before this Deputy Head of the International Affairs Division.

He had a spell of 4 years at the Ministry of Health and Social affairs where he was in charge of a performance based scheme to improve the quality of service offered to users by health and social benefit agencies. This scheme was based on indicators designed to measure and improve the quality of the services offered.  

Thierry is a former alumni of the French national administrative school (ENA) and graduated in English.
